Auditions Silent Sky


Clear Creek Community Theatre (CCCT) announces auditions for our upcoming production of Silent Sky, by Lauren Gunderson.  The production will be performed in late August at the Jet-PAC, and is directed by Raine Hasskew.

  • Saturday, June 14 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm
  • Sunday, June 15 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm

Production Details:

    • Opening Night: Friday, August 22, 2025
    • Other performances: 8/23, 8/24, 8/29, 8/30, 8/31 2025
    • Performances Friday evening, Saturday matinee, Saturday evening, Sunday matinee
  • Tech Week Schedule
    • Load-In to Jet-Pac: Date and time TBA (likely August 17)
    • Set Building and Lighting: Sunday, August 17, time TBA
    • Tech rehearsals: August 18 – 21 starting at 6:30pm
  • Tech Week and Performances will be at the Jet-PAC, 17060 Saturn Ln, Houston TX 77058
  • Rehearsals prior to tech week will held at the CCCT rehearsal space at Webster Presbyterian Church
  • Rehearsals will begin with a read-through on Sunday, June 22
  • Since rehearsals will overlap significantly with CCCT’s production of Twelfth Night, and in order to facilitate folks who wish to participate in both shows, there will be two distinct phases of rehearsal with different schedules:
    • From June 22 – July 18, rehearsals will be twice per week on Sundays 3pm-6pm and Fridays 6:30pm-9:30pm (except July 4)
    • No rehearsal the week of July 20
    • From July 29 – Aug 15, rehearsals will be five times per week on Sundays 3pm-6pm and Tuesdays – Fridays 6:30pm – 9:30pm

What to prepare for Auditions:

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. In addition, please prepare the following:

  • Bring a list of your known conflicts during the rehearsal period. The production team will make every effort to accomodate conflicts that are disclosed at audition.
  • Headshots and resumes are appreciated, but not required.
  • Those interested in the role of Margaret will be asked to sing a simple song (e.g. Twinkle-Twinkle Little Star) as part of the audition. No preparation is necessary.

Roles Available

All roles are open. All ages (18+) and ethnicities are encouraged to audition. Age ranges listed below are suggestions, not requirements.

Character Breakdown:

Henrietta Swan Leavitt – (20s to 30s) A brilliant, energetic young woman with a passion for the stars. She is devoted to her work, sometimes to a fault.

Margaret Leavitt – (20s to 30s) Henrietta’s sister. A family-oriented, traditional woman with a passion for composing music. Singing required, ability to play piano is a plus.

Peter Shaw – (20s to 30s) Apprentice to the head of the observatory and love interest for Henrietta. Awkward in an endearing way.

Williamina Fleming – (40s to 60s) Scottish, accent required. Quick-witted and humorous. Originally a housekeeper to the head of the observatory, she was the first woman hired to work there as a computer.

Annie Jump Cannon – (30s to 50s) Coworker of Henrietta and Williamina, and a terse contrast to Williamina’s levity. Pioneer of stellar classification and fierce advocate for women’s rights.

CREW MEMBERS & NEWBIES:

CCCT prides itself as being a place for people who have always wanted to get involved in theatre but never had the chance. We often cast people with little experience – our job is to serve our community by providing an artistic release for everyone. We’d love to have you join us.

Audition nights are a perfect time to come out, meet the director, and express your interest in helping backstage, be it in the role of a stage manager, lights & sound operator, concessions, or whatever else you might like to do.
